lunchbox tips

The end of half term and back to school for millions of children across the country. With the nights drawing in and the days getting colder you could do well to think beyond the standard sandwich and yoghurt packed lunch and include some hot food. Our sister site www.lunchboxesetc.co.uk sell a vast range of lunchboxes but of particular interest are the food and drink flasks from thermos. These natty little thermos vacuum containers will keep food (such as chilli, or stew) hot for up to 6 hours and come in a variety of sizes and colours from 290ml to 800ml.

The smaller food flasks are a perfect fit inside any of the thermos lunchboxes on the site and will also fit comfortably into our best selling plain plastic lunch boxes. The bigger flasks like the multipurpose 800ml food and drink flask or the microwaveable food flask are a bit big to fit in a lunch bag but are eaasy to carry separately.

Don't forget to pack some fruit in a trendy fruity face inflatable fruit case to complete a seasonal and tasty packed lunch!

Organix baby food - whole range available from Kiddies Kitchen

It may only be a local phenomenon round here but I've noticed that the amounts and varieties of organix baby food available in our local supermarkets can be extremely variable. The annoyance of having driven to a supermarket only to find that the particular flavour of rice cakes, or fruit purees is not available was one of the reasons I set up Kiddies Kitchen in the first place. We endeavour to have the whole range available at all times, and if an item is out of stock it is only usually for a very few days until our next delivery arrives direct from organix themselves. Buying in bulk is a great idea as all our stock has good long shelf lives and will dilute the cost of delivery!

Organix baby food has long been a favourite in our house, particularly the finger foods and goodies ranges. Fruit bars, gingerbread men, animal biscuits; you name it our boys will devour them!

Just back off holiday - back in the shop and bigging up Miniscoff meals

I'm back in the shop again after a well deserved (i think) break. The family went to center parcs at Sherwood Forest and I have to say it was excellent. What a pleasure it was to be able to eat out with the family at restaurants that not only had highchairs and proper childrens options but also had some of the best play facilities we'd seen actually in the restaurants...

Incidentally I noticed that several of the restaurants on the site we offering a selection of organic childrens meals and I'm pleased to say that Kiddies Kitchen stock frozen ready meals for children from the same supplier: Miniscoff. Whilst our kids will try anything (once at least) it was good to know that they would have a chance to have a familiar tasting meal at least once in the week and there is nothing like seeing Nathan (16 months) eat his way through and entire plate of chilli and rice in about three minutes flat and then demand more! Well done Angus and everyone at miniscoff for producing such tasty meals and well done for getting quality food into places like center parcs!

Kiddies Kitchen sell the entire range of miniscoff frozen meals and they can be ordered on the website for home delivery. The meals will arrive in perfect frozen condition to your house on a convenient day (arranged with you prior to delivery). Its a really simple way to restock the freezer with emergency meals for days when you are too busy to cook from fresh. With 9 recipes to choose from there is sure to be something to whet even the fussiest of children's appetites!

New products - Ella's Kitchen Organic Pasta Sauces

Here we are again, it seems like every week I'm posting about another new Ella's Kitchen Organic Baby Food product -how busy must Ella's dad and his chefs be?

Anyway this time we are announcing the arrival of 2 new organic pasta sauces for babies:

The American one is a delicious 100% organic blend of pumpkin, tomatoes and sweetcorn with orange juice and lemon juice and a hint of garlic. According to Ella's dad its great squeezed over pasta, rice or meat and fish. Personally we made a very very tasty muffin pizza for our 15 month old using an organic english muffin, a squeeze of the Ella's Kitchen American One as the topping and a sprinkle of chopped ham and grated cheese before grilling it for a few minutes. MMMMmmmm tasty!

The Indian one is an equally delicious, lightly spiced (but not hot) indian sauce that again can be aqueezed over pretty much anything you want - we are going to experiment with a fish curry (think Goa but without the mopeds) and I'll let you know the verdict from the man in the highchair in a couple of days.

We are still waiting for deliveries of the Italian One to arrive but that will also be on the Kiddies Kitchen site before long.

Each of the Ella's Kitchen pasta sauces is available from our Organic baby food shop in Tavistock Devon or online from http://www.kiddieskitchen.co.uk/
